Apple strudel : Lately every fall or apple picking season me and my family have gone apple picking. But in end we always fined our self's with too many apples so we any way we feel like. But my fall treat has to be an dessert with apple and flaky crisp crust for it to even make me feel fall is finally here. Ingredients needed: *2 pounds seeded and diced apples * 1 tablespoon corn starch * 2/3 cups sugar * 1/2 cups chopped walnuts * 1/2 cups raisins ( optional ) * 1 cup plain bread crumbs * zest and juice of 1 lemon *1 teaspoon cinnamon * 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves * 1 teaspoon vanilla extract * 2 tablespoon melted butter *8 sheets of filo dough *melted butter Procedures : 1. you layer your filo dough one sheet at a time with brushes of melted butter evenly between all eight of your layers. put that aside till later. 2. you grab two bowls one for your 2 pounds of apples and another that you will put all of your ingredients in from the sugar to the melted butter. mix the items together well but do not add the apples and the mixture till later. ( see first slide show for steps 1-2. ) 3. now you bring your filo dough back out and put a new layer of butter on top of the 8th layer. and next add your apples, cornstarch,and mixture together in one bowl. 4. Now you will put the apple mixture on the fill do you buttered and put the mixture on top and bring it at lest about 1-2 inches away from all of the edges. 5. You will the form the apple mixture that be on the fill dough into a roundish rectangle. 6. Fold the right And left flaps of fill dough over the mound after do the same with the bottum flap . Next you roll the shaped mixture tightly over the rest of the fill dough and have the seem be on the bottum when you flip it over, but make sure your ends are folded in too. ( see second slide show for 3-6 steps. ) ( see video on how to roll it up. ) 7. Lastly you put it in the oven at 400*F for about 25-30 minutes. |
