The first time I had stepped in a baking kitchen was when I had been going to the summer class to upper cape tech, at the time freshman year was about to begin. There I had made my first bread as you can see from the picture above. When bringing it home it was a work to be proud of, not only the look was good but the taste was even better.
When freshman year came I had to learn how to make the strawberry and cream sponge cake. The making of the sponge and strawberry creme was easier than trimming through sponge, trying to make it flat. Layering one into a thin sheet of plastic in a cylinder /circle shape. Next having to level the cream so it's flat so another sponge cake can fit into the plastic. More cream was added to flatten the top, and to finish it off was to put the whip cream on top for decoration and two whole strawberries. It's look was amazing and when I had taken a bite out of it I felt like I was in heaven.

My first cake that I had made did not turn out as I hoped it would. However as I learned more over the days, it became time for me to create another cake of my own image. I made a second cake that represents animals that I look after, so the decorations should help the cake look its part and taste even better. The cake was vanilla with vanilla icing. For the animal look on the cake I took out some of the frosting in a way that it looked like a cat's and dog's paw print, and had filled it up with shredded dark chocolate. White chocolate was used on the sides, and any left over icing was used for decoration. whether it was the dollops on the bottom, putting the whole oreos on the sides, or just as a little whip to put crushed oreos on top of. When giving it to my family to try. They thought that it was amazing and when they had tasted it, it was as good as it looks or even better.

Fondant is a tool that almost every baker uses for their cakes or any baked goods. There are difficulties when working with fondant, but the end result if done right will make the cake pop out even better. I know this from my few experiments with fondant, my first try with it came out great. The outcome was better than I had thought it would. Though done at my school I had brought all of the materials in myself to do what I did. The cake is normal with purple dyed frosting. The big pumpkin and the ghost dog are both made with rice crispy treats, and have only a layer of fondant on top. The rest of the pumpkins here are made completely from fondant. Making it was quite lengthy and it did take me all of the school day and then some at home to finish. Though the food coloring in some areas is worse than others. I and many others do believe that for a beginner to try this was a great feet and I do find myself proud for doing so in the first place.
